Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking a Virtual Assistant Principal for the Ohio-credentialed leadership team to guide cultural, behavioral, and academic initiatives in a virtual K-12 environment. The role emphasizes equity, trauma-informed practices, and restorative approaches while coordinating professional development and family engagement.

The position requires a valid Ohio Principal/Teacher license, seven years in education, and a proactive, relationship-driven leadership style.

Qualifications

• Current valid Principal and Teacher license in Ohio
• Ohio residency preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in education or related discipline
• Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks
• Knowledge of state academic content standards
• Minimum seven years of experience in education or related field
• Two or more years of experience in successful school administration/instructional leadership
• Advanced degree in education/educational leadership strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a rigorous academic program
• Experience in public education accountability, compliance, and related legal requirements
• Demonstrated ability to create inclusive environments that honor a diversity of backgrounds
• Passion for improving educational opportunities and building a strong organization
• Understanding of and ability to manage confidential information
• Knowledge of innovative school designs and 21st century learning models
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Cultivate a caring, supportive, and inclusive school community
• Coach and develop teachers in effective classroom management
• Collaborate with families to improve student behavior, attendance, and engagement
• Engage families and community in meaningful ways to promote student well-being
• Oversee behavior management to motivate students through relationships
• Coordinate and supervise MTSS/RTI processes with fidelity
• Plan and deliver professional development for teachers on best practices
• Coordinate staff in-service days, conferences, and extended learning opportunities
• Lead collaboration with leadership to implement instructional programs and assess curriculum
• Partner with HR to recruit, hire, and support school staff
• Ensure compliance with EEO and sponsor/state/federal requirements
• Support state-required testing including in-person tests
• Update parent/student manuals and policies
• Stay current with state policies and legislation
• Maintain high-quality communications with students and families
• Travel up to 15% as required
• Perform all other duties as assigned
