Job summary

The NYS Department of Health is seeking an Assistant Research Scientist/Research Scientist 1/Research Scientist 2 (Epidemiology) to provide data management and analysis support for the Bureau of Early Intervention. Responsibilities include statistical analyses, study design, data validation, and reporting, with opportunities to mentor junior scientists.

Position involves working with large datasets, cost analyses, and collaboration across teams to enhance public health programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, biomedical science, environmental health, environmental science, epidemiology, infection control, public health, statistics/biostatistics, or related field.
• Experience in professional research in relevant field; substitutions available as per job posting.
• Preferred qualifications include experience linking datasets, SAS programming, SQL, Tableau and GIS.

Responsibilities

• Conduct basic and advanced statistical analysis and study design.
• Perform cost analyses of claims and liabilities data.
• Support data migration integrity and development of data-system requirements.
• Validate data reporting and produce formal reports and presentations.
• Supervise junior researchers in data analysis tasks.
