Job summary

Interfaith America is seeking an Assistant Director of Institutional Giving to lead grant proposals and reports, coordinating with program and leadership teams to translate program plans into compelling funding narratives. The role focuses on civic initiatives, with work spanning higher education and workplace programs as needed.

Based in Chicago or remote from several states, the position oversees a portfolio, drives strategy, and reports impact to funders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 5–8 years in nonprofit development or philanthropy.
• Experience with foundations grants management, writing, and fundraising strategy.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Co-create fundraising strategy with leadership for civic and community initiatives.
• Manage a portfolio of civic foundation prospects, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Support executives with regular communications and briefing materials for portfolio contacts.
• Research new funding opportunities aligned with priorities and prepare information for meetings.
• Project manage letters of inquiry, concept notes, and grant proposals across teams.
