Job summary

Privia Health is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Controller to join our accounting team. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this leadership role will scale financial operations, strengthen internal controls (SOX), and lead finance system transformations with a remote team.

The ideal candidate combines public accounting and public company experience, deep US GAAP expertise, and the ability to guide audits and complex transactions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, combining public accounting and public company environment.
• Strong U.S. GAAP, SOX 404 compliance, and internal controls design knowledge.
• Experience leading remote accounting teams.
• Healthcare, physician practice management, or health-tech experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close routines to GAAP-compliant statements.
• Oversee journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and schedules across business units.
• Partner with FP&A on budget-to-actual analyses and operational reporting.
• Lead financial integration activities for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to ensure seamless onboarding and accounting alignment.
• Maintain and monitor a robust internal controls framework to ensure full SOX 404 compliance.
• Serve as a key liaison for external auditors, managing audit schedules and issue resolution.
• Serve as the functional finance lead for the upcoming ERP transition, assisting with chart of accounts design, data migration, and UAT.
• Identify and execute automation opportunities across existing financial software to streamline close cycles.
