Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. in Pittsburgh, PA, seeks an Architectural Historian to join our team in office or remotely. The role offers hybrid work and requires extensive archival research, surveys, and report preparation on transportation, power, and energy projects.

You will conduct field surveys, prepare inventory forms, and author determination of eligibility reports, with frequent travel and fieldwork. A degree in History or Historic Preservation and strong writing, map-reading and communication

Qualifications

• Degree in History, Historic Preservation, American Studies, or related field preferred.
• Strong writing and concise communication skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
• Candidate must have a current driver's license.
• Experience with Section 106 NHPA.
• Experience with large-scale power/energy projects (pipeline, transmission, renewable energy).
• Experience using Esri software, including Field Maps and Survey123.

Responsibilities

• Conduct archival and background research.
• Conduct architectural and historical field surveys (overnight travel).
• Prepare architectural inventory forms.
• Author architectural and historical resources reports.
• Prepare Determination of Eligibility forms.
