Job summary

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Pittsburgh, PA office is seeking an Architectural Historian to investigate, evaluate, and document historic buildings for infrastructure projects.

You will support clients navigating historic preservation requirements, including Section 106, and contribute to technical documentation from planning through project completion. You will work with clients and regulatory agencies, expanding your cultural resource management skills while

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Architectural History or closely related field.
• Experience conducting historic architectural surveys and evaluating cultural resources.
• Knowledge of Section 106 of NHPA and NRHP evaluation criteria.
• Ability to identify and evaluate historic styles, building types, and construction methods.
• Field experience in architectural history or cultural resource investigations preferred.
• Experience preparing technical documentation for regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct historic architectural surveys and archival research for historic resources.
• Evaluate resources for NRHP eligibility and support Section 106 compliance.
• Prepare survey reports, evaluations, effects assessments, and regulatory documentation.
• Coordinate with clients, SHPOs, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams for project delivery.
• Assist with project planning, task management, scheduling, budgeting, and proposals.
