Job summary

Mission Underwriters is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to design, implement, and scale an enterprise AI platform. You will build production-ready AI applications, integrate LLMs and AI agents, and enable AI-powered experiences across underwriting, operations, and finance.

The role emphasizes secure, scalable AI solutions and governance. You will collaborate with technology and business teams to deliver robust AI capabilities, leveraging clouds, databases, and modern AI tooling.

Qualifications

• 3+ years software/AI engineering, with at least 2 years delivering production AI solutions.
• Hands-on experience building enterprise apps using LLMs, memory management, AI agents, prompt engineering, and orchestration.
• Experience deploying AI features with cloud-native tech.
• Experience integrating AI with enterprise systems via REST APIs, event-driven architectures, vector databases, and knowledge repositories.
• Familiarity with modern AI/orchestration frameworks.
• Experience implementing AI evaluation, monitoring, observability, and testing frameworks.
• Understanding of Responsible AI, security, governance, and compliance.
• Experience with Git/GitHub, CI/CD, IaC, and DevOps/MLOps for AI apps.
• Experience with Databricks, SQL Server, or other enterprise data platforms.
• Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy production-grade AI solutions using LLMs, AI agents, memory management, and ML techniques.
• Build intelligent workflows and AI-powered apps to automate business processes across enterprise functions.
• Develop and maintain scalable AI services using cloud-native architectures.
• Integrate AI with enterprise platforms like policy administration, data platforms, and document management.
• Design prompt engineering, orchestration frameworks, vector databases, and knowledge retrieval solutions.
• Evaluate, fine-tune, and optimize foundation models for accuracy, latency, and cost.
• Develop automated testing and monitoring to measure AI quality and system performance.
• Implement AI guardrails, governance standards, and responsible AI practices.
• Collaborate with product owners and engineers to translate requirements into AI solutions.
• Build AI models from providers like Anthropic and OpenAI to solve business problems.
• Use tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex to plan and build.
• Build reusable AI components, SDKs, and engineering frameworks.
• Use databases like MongoDB and Databricks to store and process data.
• Optimize AI infrastructure and orchestration for high availability and efficiency.
• Stay current with emerging AI tech and propose new capabilities for Mission's AI strategy.
• Support production AI systems with monitoring and troubleshooting.
