Job summary

Lenze Americas Corporation seeks an experienced Application Engineer to provide technical expertise in motion control, drive systems, and industrial automation. The role supports customers with application development, drive selection, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization while collaborating with Sales on differentiated motion solutions.

The position is remote within targeted US markets (Nashville, Charlotte, Atlanta, Detroit) with up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechatronics, robotics, or mechanical engineering.
• Proficient in IEC 61131-3 languages (Ladder, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram).
• Experience with motion control, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communications.
• Strong mechatronics background integrating mechanical, electrical, and software.
• Experience in machine commissioning and creating specs.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% regionally.

Responsibilities

• Develop motion architecture, system topology, and software design.
• Create customer-specific application software and support full project lifecycle.
• Configure and commission drives (VFDs, inverters, servo systems) and develop PLC/HMI programs.
• Support testing, startup, and field validation of automation solutions.
• Capture and standardize application knowledge into reusable tools.
• Partner with Sales to develop solution concepts for customers.
• Provide technical support during pre-sales activities and customer meetings.
• Assist in proposals and identify upsell opportunities.
• Build strong customer relationships to drive sales growth.
• Deliver advanced technical support remotely or onsite.
• Conduct product demonstrations and training; develop guides.
• Travel up to 25% for regional coverage.
