Job summary

American Workforce Solutions is seeking an experienced Device & Embedded Systems Architect to own end-to-end technical architecture for a connected device platform. You will establish patterns, standards, and guardrails across embedded software, Android lifecycle management, device management, telemetry, and OTA updates to enable secure, reliable hardware at scale.

Qualifications

• Minimum eight years of software engineering experience with five years in embedded systems or mobile platform engineering.
• Deep hands-on Android platform development: AOSP customization, system apps, security (dm-verity, SELinux, Verified Boot).
• Strong knowledge of device management concepts and hands-on experience with MDM/EMM platforms at scale.

Responsibilities

• Defines and owns reference architecture for device endpoints, ensuring security and scalability across brands.
• Leads architectural design of Android-based device platform including HAL, system services, IPC, and security hardening.
• Establishes firmware/software architecture standards: bootloader config, recovery partitions, secure enclave, and hardware abstraction layers.
• Designs OTA update framework and evaluates open-source solutions to meet reliability and scale.
• Architects device telemetry systems balancing data richness with network constraints and cloud ingestion.
• Develops multi-year Android roadmap aligned to AOSP support windows and hardware lifecycle.
• Partners with ODM/OEM vendors and chipset manufacturers for BSP updates, patches, and kernel upgrades.
• Defines supportability thresholds and sunset criteria for deployed generations and migration paths.
• Architects or evolves MDM/EMM platform to support 250,000+ devices across diverse generations and use-cases.
• Defines provisioning/de-provisioning workflows for technician-assisted and zero-touch deployment.
