Remote Android Core Product Lead

Speechify; United States; Remote; USD 150,000 - 210,000; Full time

Job summary

Speechify in a 100% distributed environment is seeking a Team Lead to own core product work and raise how the team collaborates. This is a hands-on role where you will write code, review code, and own features from idea to release.

You will mentor engineers, improve reliability, and drive delivery with fast, high-quality iterations across Android, iOS, web, and extensions. Strong communication and pragmatic problem solving are essential as you unblock the team and align on best practices to ship

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end, working closely with our design team — from the decision through to release. This is real delivery, not oversight
• Own, maintain, and improve reliability metrics for key features
• Review pull requests and give constructive feedback
• Unblock the team: notice when someone has been stuck on the same thing for two days and take action
• Notice when something one person built should become the version the team uses, and drive that change
• Keep shared pieces in working order — tested and clear for someone else to pick up
• Call it when the team is ready to change how it works, rather than waiting for that to happen
• Reduce manual intervention to ensure a correct release
• When the same problem shows up twice, modify the setup to prevent a third occurrence
• Shift verification left: expand automated checks to catch issues earlier
