Speechify seeks an experienced Team Lead to own core Android product work, write code, review changes, and shape how the team collaborates. You will own features end-to-end, drive reliability, and unblock the team while mentoring engineers across a distributed organization.

You will work with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines/Flow, Jetpack, Dagger 2, Room, and modern Android tooling to push UI/UX further than the spec.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on.
• Strong Kotlin and Android architecture skills including MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Jetpack components.
• Experience shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background work.
• Focus on tests and testing strategies, and what can't be covered by tests.
• Proven ability to drive change and implement lasting improvements.
• Comfort with articulating changes that require broad team buy-in and managing friction.
• Track record of building reusable components used by the team.
• Ability to describe how your team works with AI agents.
• Product design intuition and user empathy to push Android UI/UX beyond spec.
• Self-motivation to improve app and codebase beyond the basics.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience with open source Android projects.
• Experience with iOS, Web, or NodeJS.
• Familiarity with the tech stack listed above and related tools.

Responsabilités

• Own major features end to end from design to release.
• Deliver real, not just oversight, contributions and code ownership.
• Maintain and improve reliability metrics for core features.
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback.
• Unblock the team and escalate when necessary to keep momentum.
• Lead planning and align Product, Design, and Engineering discussions.
• Own nightly builds and support QA with automation and checks.
• Mentor junior engineers and help them grow.
• Drive process improvements and better collaboration with AI agents.
