Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Smart Water & AMI Consultant to guide utilities through AMI procurements, deployments, and digital transformations. You will act as a trusted advisor, lead owner’s engineer engagements, and support IT/OT integration across CIS, MDMS, and billing systems.

The role requires 8+ years in AMI or smart water, familiarity with major AMI platforms, and travel up to 50%. Hybrid work model with office and remote work across US.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in engineering, business, environmental science or related field with 8+ years in AMI/meters.
• Experience with end-to-end AMI deployment or major metering upgrade.
• Familiarity with top AMI platforms (Itron, Sensus, Neptune, Kamstrup, Master Meter, Badger Meter).
• Willingness to travel 25–50% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Lead owner's engineer engagements for AMI deployments and program close-out.
• Advise on AMI system architecture and vendor selection processes.
• Develop KPI frameworks and cost/benefit analyses for deployments.
• Support procurement and contract negotiations with utilities and vendors.
• Assess MDM/MDMS-to-billing readiness and CIS/billing integration.
