Portulans Institute is seeking an experienced researcher and project manager to lead the research and delivery of a flagship thematic chapter on AI, skills, and the future of work. The role combines analytic writing with day-to-day project management in an international collaboration.

The successful candidate will manage interviews, country contributions, and editorial reviews, coordinating contributors and ensuring timely publication readiness across US Eastern and European hours; remote work

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent with strong policy research experience.
• Proven project management of large, international collaborations.
• Excellent writing and editing in English.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an integrated workplan covering research, interviews, drafting, editorial review and production.
• Serve as the principal coordination contact for editors, researchers, country contributors and production staff.
• Organize focused project meetings, prepare agendas and decision points, document actions and follow-through.
• Proactively coordinate with senior editors to anticipate input, prioritize, and keep reviews moving.
• Track progress across contributors, identify delays, and elevate unresolved issues to leadership.
• Provide regular progress updates on completed work, deadlines, and delivery risks.
• Coordinate with data, design and communications teams to ensure publication-ready materials.
