Job summary

Makai Labs is seeking a Project Manager to own the delivery of AI-powered client and platform projects, collaborating with the Product Owner to determine what gets built and focusing on how and when it is delivered to clients.

You will work closely with engineers, designers, product, client services, and client stakeholders to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with business objectives, with automation of meeting notes increasing efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management experience in client-facing software or technology projects
• Proven track record of managing complex cross-functional programs
• Strong communication and stakeholder management, including executive updates
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced startup environment
• Experience with Jira, Asana, Slack, and Google Workspace
• Ability to work independently with high attention to detail
• Nice-to-have: experience with SaaS, AI, or ML projects or technical implementations

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution, and delivery of Makai’s client and platform projects
• Define scope, goals, and resourcing against the SOW; maintain plans, timelines, milestones
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure project success
• Provide clear documentation and client-facing status updates and decks
• Follow up after meetings, track actions and ownership to closure
• Maintain risk and issue logs; flag blockers early with remediation
• Run client and internal check-ins; ensure owners, dates, and next steps
• Coordinate rollout and user adoption, including production handoff
• Track budget vs. SOW; flag scope changes and support change orders
• Identify process improvements and explore AI-assisted automation
