Job summary

Lawfare seeks an associate editor focused on AI and national security. This entry-level role supports editorial processes across articles, podcasts, and trackers within Lawfare’s AI Research Program, collaborating with experts and hosting opportunities for published pieces.

You will review submissions, solicit content, coordinate with podcast teams, assist with research projects, and help maintain publication schedules. Remote work available for United States applicants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• Strong writing, analytical and research skills.
• Interest in AI, technology policy, and national security.
• Experience editing or journalism is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review submissions for publication on Lawfare website, including AI-related submissions for rigor.
• Solicit submissions based on current developments in Lawfare’s AI and national security coverage.
• Process accepted submissions to prepare them for publication.
• Work with the podcast team to develop audio content and daily podcasts.
• Support long- and short-term research projects for the AI Research Program.
• Maintain AI-related tracking resources and trackers.
• Assist with workshops and briefings for the program.
• Ensure final copyediting and posting of publications.
• Maintain the Lawfare publication schedule.
• Contribute to podcasts and articles on topics of expertise as needed.
• Support website management and posting of documents and livestreams.
• Assist with fundraising and donor-required documentation.
