Job summary

Aisafety is seeking an AI & National Security Lead to analyze how AI interacts with national security concerns, especially in Washington, DC. This position requires a Master’s degree and relevant experience in researching existential risks and engaging with policy stakeholders.

The candidate will develop informative materials for policymakers and the media while crafting policies to minimize AI risks. The role also supports grantmaking to mitigate technology risks and engages in public discussions. A flexible remote work option is available.

Qualifications

• 1 year of professional experience researching existential risks from AI, biological, and/or nuclear technologies.
• 1 year of experience engaging with key policy stakeholders on AI safety issues.
• 1 year of experience in public speaking and/or media engagement.

Responsibilities

• Analyze AI interactions with US national security concerns.
• Monitor and respond to developments in AI policy.
• Develop materials to explain AI policy issues to stakeholders.
• Appear on panels and brief members of the media.
• Identify opportunities for policy change.
• Craft policies to maximize benefits of emerging technologies.
• Support grantmaking efforts.
