Job summary

Humana (CenterWell) is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to architect and own AI-powered systems, including LLMs and RAG pipelines, for healthcare applications. Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, 4+ years in production AI/ML systems
• Deep, hands-on experience building with large language models and orchestration frameworks
• Strong proficiency in Python and Typescript and modern ML tooling
• Proven experience designing and deploying RAG pipelines and vector search systems
• Working knowledge of model fine-tuning approaches (LoRA, RLHF, instruction tuning)
• Experience designing and building multi-agent AI systems, including agent orchestration and sandboxed execution environments
• Demonstrated ownership of complex AI systems end-to-end, from architecture through production operation
• Understanding of HIPAA requirements and secure handling of PHI
• Strong written and verbal communication across technical and non-technical audiences
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and LLM coding harnesses

Responsibilities

• Design and own the end-to-end architecture of AI systems, including LLM-powered tools and workflows
• Evaluate, select, and guide fine-tuning of foundation models and evaluators
• Collaborate with product, clinicians, and data stakeholders to translate workflows into AI features
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and Responsible AI practices across deployment
• Lead multi-agent AI system design, orchestration, tool use, and sandboxed execution environments
• Drive production readiness, testing, monitoring, and incident response for AI services
