Job summary

Chess.com is seeking a design engineer to own the interfaces across Engage-o-tron, GNS, and admin tools. You’ll decide how things look, feel, and work, then ship it end-to-end with no handoffs. A rare mix of frontend coding and design taste is required to elevate complex, AI-enabled workflows for 250M+ players.

This full-time role is 100% remote, with overlap requirements for the Eastern Time Zone. You’ll work on dense, high-leverage projects and build a reliable design system for rapid

Qualifications

• Proficient in modern web technologies (TS, Vue, React or similar).
• Ability to design and own a design system in code.
• Experience prompting and building with AI-native development tools.

Responsibilities

• Design compelling UI/UX and produce high-quality mocks.
• Turn mocks into production-ready frontends with modern web tech.
• Iterate on interfaces to improve layout, motion, and consistency.
• Collaborate with engineers, partners and stakeholders end-to-end.
• Prototype rapidly to explore ideas and gather feedback.
• Contribute to design systems and patterns for frontend quality.
