Job summary

SMASH is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to design and build production-grade AI/ML applications for scalable SaaS products. You will work with backend teams and stakeholders across the US, Spain, and India to deploy AI capabilities into production.

The role emphasizes customer-facing work, customization for deployments, and experience in regulated environments such as HealthTech or FinTech. This is a remote LATAM-friendly position with strong emphasis on Python, FastAPI/Flask, and

Qualifications

• 3–4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of hands-on AI/ML production deployments.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Strong Python experience and production-grade APIs.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face in production.
• Hands-on with LLMs, agents, and orchestration layers.
• Experience with LangChain and/or LlamaIndex.
• Cloud and containerized microservices in SaaS environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain production-grade AI/ML applications.
• Integrate ML models into SaaS products in production.
• Design and implement REST APIs for ML models.
• Develop AI agents and orchestration layers for complex workflows.
• Customize AI solutions for customer deployments in regulated environments.
• Fine-tune and optimize LLMs for production use.
• Improve latency, throughput, and cost with caching and optimization.
• Develop data pipelines for model training, inference, and monitoring.
• Build using Python and frameworks like FastAPI/Flask.
• Collaborate with global teams across US, Spain, and India.
