Job summary

The New York Times is seeking a talented, experienced Business Correspondent to cover Elon Musk's AI work as part of the tech pod on the Business desk. This role blends breaking news, enterprise reporting and analysis with collaboration across the newsroom, including finance, audio, video and graphics.

Based in San Francisco, the position is in-office with four days on-site weekly, with some flexibility for remote work per department guidance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of significant beat reporting and writing experience.
• Ability to produce stories that are crisply written and well organized, framed to draw in busy readers and delivered in accessible language.
• Experience as a collaborator and the ability to partner with colleagues across The New York Times newsroom.

Responsibilities

• Generate original reporting on Musk and AI, in conjunction with editors and colleagues.
• Build a network of sources to inform rich, original reports, news and features.
• Write with authority, clarity, and independence.
• Handle breaking news with energy and contribute thoughtful enterprise pieces.
• Collaborate across desks and teams including finance, Audio, Video and Graphics.
• Write articles, short Live updates, newsletters and participate in collaborative reporting projects.
• Report to the Business Tech Editor and maintain independence and mission alignment.
