Job summary

The New York Times Company is seeking an Editor, Audience – A.I. and Emerging Platforms in New York City. This in-office role requires four days per week in the office with some remote flexibility depending on departmental guidance.

The editor will bridge newsroom, Partnerships, Legal and the A.I. Initiatives team to shape relationships with AI platforms and surface journalism with precision and editorial standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in digital journalism and a demonstrated track record with AI and emerging platforms.
• Deep knowledge of the search landscape, including AI and emerging technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify new surfaces, features or platforms to distribute journalism and report results.
• Advise the newsroom on AI initiatives and external platform partnerships.
• Provide insights on how AI discovery affects audience funnels and strategies.
• Collaborate on ad hoc projects for major events on external AI surfaces.
• Ensure alignment with editorial values and newsroom priorities in external deals.
