Job summary

Leidos seeks a mid-level Software Engineer to build backend services, intelligent agents, and automation workflows for mission-critical platforms. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team in GitLab to deliver secure, scalable AI-enabled solutions and contribute to an "everything as code" approach across infrastructure, agent behavior, and operational artifacts.

Qualifications

• BS degree plus 4+ years of professional software development experience.
• Proficiency in Python (preferred) or Java/Go.
• Experience building backend services, APIs, or microservices.
• Experience with AI/ML systems, LLMs, or intelligent automation.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts and tooling.
• Experience with GitLab and/or GitHub in collaborative projects.
• Must have and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and microservices that support AI-enabled platforms.
• Build autonomous agents that interact with technical and business systems.
• Develop AI-enabled workflows leveraging LLMs for decision support and automation.
• Implement APIs and orchestration logic for collaboration between services.
• Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code to provision cloud environments.
• Collaborate with systems engineers and ISSEs to translate requirements into code.
• Contribute to Git-based development workflows and code reviews.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and secure deployments aligned with security controls.
• Produce documentation on code, agent behavior, and system interactions.
• Apply "everything as code" approach to infrastructure, automation, and workflows.
