Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Category Manager in Aerospace & Defense to lead strategic sourcing and category-management initiatives that enhance supplier performance, manage risk, and drive measurable value across the supply chain.

This role collaborates with engineering, contracts, legal, and procurement stakeholders to craft category strategies, run competitive sourcing events, negotiate agreements, and manage supplier relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 15+ years related experience; Masters with 13+ years preferred.
• Eight+ years progressive procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management experience.
• 5+ years in category strategies development and complex supplier negotiations.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, federal contracting, or regulated industries.
• Knowledge of FAR/DFARS requirements and government contracting procurement practices.
• Knowledge of ITAR/EAR and export-controlled procurement information handling.
• Strong skills in market analysis, spend analysis, and supplier performance management.
• Excellent project- and stakeholder-management, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies aligned with business objectives and program requirements.
• Conduct market intelligence, spend analysis, and supplier assessments to identify opportunities.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to define requirements, evaluation criteria, and sourcing plans.
• Lead RFx processes from planning through supplier selection and award recommendation.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and performance commitments with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Support contract development and administration with Contracts, Legal, Finance, and Program Management.
• Manage strategic supplier relationships, scorecards, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Monitor supplier capacity, quality, delivery, and compliance; assess risks.
• Perform cost and price analysis, should-cost modeling, and savings validation.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, FAR/DFARS, and export-control requirements.
• Track performance, savings, diversification, and risks; report to leadership.
