Job summary

William & Mary is seeking an Outside Admission Reader to analyze high school coursework, essays, letters of recommendation, and other applicant materials to determine alignment with the university's mission.

This is a remote, hourly, limited-term position within Admissions, requiring strong reading/writing, data synthesis, and independent work. Starting pay is $20 per hour, commensurate with experience, with 30 hours/week during peak periods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent mix of education and experience.
• Ability to learn duties quickly with minimal supervision.
• Strong reading and writing proficiency.
• Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Experience handling large volumes of sensitive information and documents.
• Proficient computer skills and data synthesis ability.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and assess applicant submissions to determine alignment with university mission.
• Read, synthesize, and summarize curricula, essays, recommendations, and statements.
• Assist admissions decisions with careful, data-driven assessment.
• Work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate findings clearly.
