Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks an Actuary II Forecasting to join the Forecasting Team in Austin. The role focuses on developing forecast models for Medicaid and other programs, validating data, and providing timely analyses to support policy and budgeting decisions.

The Forecaster works with team members to ensure data integrity, create clear reports, and balance actuarial judgment with statistical methods. Telework eligibility supports a hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a 4-year college or university with major coursework in mathematics/statistics/economics or related field.
• Experience with data analysis tools and forecasting concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex statistical models (time series) to forecast HHS programs using SAS or similar tools.
• Maintain and update complex spreadsheets; identify improvements.
• Analyze historical data monthly to ensure forecasting accuracy and data integrity.
• Prepare management reports on model performance and data trends (monthly/quarterly).
• Run ad-hoc queries and simulations as requested by leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
