About The Role
We're looking for an experienced and proactive Accounting Manager to lead our accounting team and oversee day-to-day operations. This critical role ensures timely, accurate financial service delivery to our clients, while identifying areas for process improvement, automation, and long-term growth. You'll play a key part in managing our internal operations and team performance while supporting the company's strategic financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the bookkeeping/accounting team, ensuring task completion, attendance, and performance.
- Oversee client coverage planning, including resource allocation during team absences.
- Ensure ethical, timely, and accurate financial operations across all accounts.
- Develop and maintain internal SOPs and training materials related to accounting processes, QBO, and client onboarding.
- Conduct ongoing team training and implement effective follow-up plans.
- Support client satisfaction efforts by stepping in as needed to ensure service standards are met.
- Manage internal processes in alignment with CEO direction and organizational goals.
- Conduct performance reviews and participate in staff motivation and development initiatives.
- Hold weekly and monthly team check-ins, as well as regular meetings with the CEO for updates on operations, processes, and growth plans.
- Recommend and implement operational improvements to drive efficiency and profitability.
- Oversee the full range of financial services: general ledger, monthly close, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, tax planning, KPIs, and financial reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and strategic financial plans.
- Ensure compliance with tax deadlines and collaborate with tax consultants.
- Track and report client-related accounting deadlines and ensure 100% compliance.
- Monitor financial risks and provide recommendations on financial policies and objectives.
- Drive best practices, automation initiatives, and sound record-keeping.
What You Bring
- Proven experience in accounting leadership, preferably in a remote or client-facing environment.
- Expertise in QuickBooks Online and accounting software/systems.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
- Experience managing teams, training staff, and leading performance evaluations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage client and team relationships.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a passion for operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Ability to think strategically and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
