Job summary

South Texas College is seeking an Academic Coach to design individualized student-centered educational plans and connect students with support services across the college district. The role involves working with individuals and groups on academic learning topics to foster student success, both onsite and online.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree, have at least one year of educational experience, and possess strong communication, organizational, and tech skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• At least 1 year experience in an educational setting.
• Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assesses students’ metacognitive strengths and creates individualized action plans.
• Assists students with study strategies integrated with course content.
• Supports students in setting goals for engagement and progress.
• Prepares workshops and materials to improve comprehension and supplement assignments.
• Collaborates with student organizations and departments to provide educational support onsite and online.
• Directs students to resources for academic progress and career exploration.
• Maintains knowledge of College programs, policies, and standards.
• Keeps regular records using required software and forms and submits paperwork timely.
• Promotes and presents information about academic support services.
• Acts as liaison with faculty and staff to support student success.
• Participates in departmental training and meetings.
