Job summary

Miaplaza is seeking an Academic Dean for MiaPrep Online Academy of Ohio to lead the instructional team, ensure academic integrity and data-driven decision making, and collaborate with Student Support to improve outcomes. The role focuses on coaching teachers, supervising performance, and aligning instruction with Ohio requirements in a remote, Ohio-residency context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Valid Ohio teaching license and/or administrator license, or ability to obtain one.
• At least 3 years of teaching experience.
• At least 2 years in a leadership role such as department chair, instructional coach, dean, or assistant principal.
• Experience in virtual school settings or teaching online.
• Experience supervising employees and conducting evaluations or performance reviews.
• Comfort working in online learning environments and with LMS/SIS systems.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise instructional staff, with weekly coaching, support, and goal setting.
• Lead recruiting, onboarding, and training for new teachers.
• Observe live instruction and office hours; provide actionable feedback.
• Monitor grading practices for timely, high-quality feedback to students.
• Complete walk-throughs and performance reviews; manage timecard approvals.
• Coordinate instructional and grading coverage for teacher absences.
• Address performance concerns with documented improvements and, if needed, formal plans with People Operations.
• Collaborate with Student Support on interventions and student conduct issues.
