Job summary

Opal Autism Centers is seeking an experienced ABA Medical Billing Specialist for a three-month contractor project. The role focuses on reducing billing backlog and accelerating claim submissions within a remote setting.

The contractor will review documentation, correct submission barriers, and resubmit claims while maintaining HIPAA-compliant practices. Strong ABA billing experience and proficiency with CentralReach and payer requirements are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience.
• At least 2 years of ABA therapy billing experience.
• Experience with CentralReach billing functions.
• Strong knowledge of ABA CPT codes and payer billing requirements.
• Experience using Waystar or a comparable healthcare clearinghouse.
• Ability to review EOBs, remittance advice, payer communications, and claim rejections.
• Experience managing high-volume claim submissions.
• Excellent attention to detail and billing accuracy.
• Able to work independently and meet productivity targets.
• Must have reliable high-speed internet and secure remote workspace.

Responsibilities

• Review, validate, and submit ABA therapy claims using CentralReach and applicable clearinghouse systems.
• Process billing backlog while meeting productivity expectations.
• Verify client demographics, authorizations, provider credentials, CPT codes, units, dates of service, and place of service.
• Identify documentation issues delaying submissions.
• Coordinate with BCBAs, Clinical Directors, and other providers for corrections and addendums.
• Review claims for payer-specific requirements before submission.
• Prevent duplicate billing and authorization errors.
• Maintain accurate billing records and supporting documentation.
• Follow HIPAA and privacy requirements.
• Track submission volume and backlog reduction progress.
• Provide status updates to Revenue Cycle leadership.
• Communicate with providers regarding missing documentation.
