Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking an experienced A/R, Billing, and Setup Manager to lead our corporate accounting teams, ensuring accurate revenue capture, timely billing, and compliant project setup for government contracts.

The role requires hands-on leadership, deep Costpoint expertise, and a strategic mindset to optimize processes, closeouts, audits, and DFAS interactions, with remote or hybrid options across the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with 10–12 years of accounting/billing experience.
• At least five years of leadership experience.
• Hands-on government contract accounting experience and FAR billing knowledge.
• Experience billing fixed-price, T&M, and cost-reimbursable contracts.
• Excellent customer service and communication across all levels.
• Ability to analyze problems and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
• Experience supporting auditors and audit-ready documentation.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the A/R, Billing, Project Setup, and Contract Closeout teams.
• Hire, train, coach and develop staff; build depth and continuity of expertise.
• Foster a collaborative, customer-focused culture with strong accountability.
• Ensure timely and accurate billing, project setup, rate adjustments, and closeout activities.
• Maintain compliance with FAR 52.216-7 and government requirements.
• Provide guidance on indirect rate structures and their impact on billing.
