Job summary

Yingst Building Group is seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our Remodeling team in South Central Pennsylvania. You will own day-to-day field execution on residential remodeling projects while staying hands-on in the field and mentoring Carpenter I/II staff.

You’ll read drawings, coordinate trade partners, maintain craftsmanship standards, and communicate progress with homeowners to ensure a superior customer experience from start to finish.

We are looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our growing Remodeling team. This role is for a skilled remodeling professional who is ready to take ownership of the day-to-day execution of residential remodeling projects while continuing to work hands-on in the field.

As a Lead Carpenter, you’ll set the standard on the jobsite—leading other carpenters, coordinating with trade partners, communicating with homeowners, solving problems, and making sure each project reflects YBG’s expectations for craftsmanship, professionalism, and customer experience.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the day-to-day field execution of assigned residential remodeling projects.
• Perform advanced carpentry work including framing, cabinetry, doors and windows, trim and finish carpentry, drywall, flooring, exterior work, and other remodeling activities.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, scopes of work, specifications, and project schedules.
• Plan daily work and coordinate carpenters, trade partners, materials, and jobsite activities.
• Provide direction, coaching, and hands‑on training to Carpenter I and Carpenter II team members.
• Monitor workmanship and ensure work meets YBG quality standards.
• Identify jobsite issues, anticipate potential problems, and communicate solutions or needed decisions to the Remodeling Supervisor.
• Communicate professionally with homeowners regarding daily activities, jobsite access, and project progress.
• Coordinate with trade partners to help keep work moving according to schedule.
• Monitor material needs and communicate shortages, changes, or additional requirements before they impact the project.
• Maintain clean, organized, safe, and professional jobsites, particularly when working in occupied homes.
• Protect customers’ homes, property, and belongings throughout the remodeling process.
• Complete required jobsite documentation and communicate project updates accurately and promptly.
• Follow and reinforce all company safety policies and jobsite procedures.

Successful Candidate Profile

You are an experienced remodeling carpenter who combines strong technical skills with leadership and personal accountability. You don’t simply complete your own work—you pay attention to the entire job and take ownership of keeping it moving forward.

You are comfortable directing other carpenters and coordinating with trade partners while remaining hands‑on when the project requires it. You communicate well with homeowners, anticipate issues before they become problems, and understand that a successful remodeling project is measured by both the quality of the finished work and the customer’s experience throughout the process.

Qualifications

• Significant professional carpentry experience, with residential remodeling experience strongly preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, sequencing, and best practices.
• Strong skills across multiple areas of carpentry, including framing, trim and finish carpentry, cabinetry, doors and windows, drywall, flooring, and related remodeling work.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
• Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve construction and jobsite issues.
• Experience directing the work of other carpenters and coordinating with trade partners.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Professional communication skills and the ability to interact confidently with homeowners.
• Ability to balance hands‑on carpentry responsibilities with jobsite leadership and coordination.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools used in residential construction.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of residential construction work, including regularly lifting and carrying materials and equipment up to 75 pounds.
