Job summary

GHD is seeking an Environmental Remediation System Technician to join our central coast California team on-site at a client project. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver environmental restoration projects and provide operation and maintenance expertise for groundwater collection/extraction systems and treatment units.

The role requires hands-on field work, coordination with contractors, and adherence to environmental compliance plans.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in operation, maintenance and field tasks for environmental remediation.
• Mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with county and state regulatory agencies preferred.
• Proven professional judgement and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Provide O&M expertise on remediation systems including groundwater wells, pumps and treatment units.
• Field implementation of routine operation and maintenance tasks.
• Oversee remedial contractors for maintenance and repairs.
• Environmental compliance monitoring and groundwater sampling per approved plans.
• Respond to system alarms in person and occasionally remotely.
• Document all work in field notes, forms and electronic records.

Who are we looking for?

Our central coast CA offices have an excellent opportunity for an Environmental Remediation System Technician. This is an opportunity for a rising individual to join a large, well-established organization with a culture that promotes teamwork, integrity, and respect. You will work closely with our highly skilled multi-disciplinary teams to efficiently deliver projects and provide high value consultancy services.

This position is on-site at client project in the central coast region of California.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Provide Operation, Maintenance and Monitoring expertise on a diverse environmental restoration project, with a focus on environmental remediation system including groundwater collection/extraction system wells and pumps, conveyance pumps and lines, and treatment system comprised of storage tanks, clarifiers, bag filters, organo-clay and carbon vessels
• Field implementation of routine operation and system maintenance tasks
• Oversight of remedial contractors for routine maintenance items system maintenance including, carbon and organ clay change outs, and mechanical and electrical repairs
• Environmental compliance monitoring of treatment system and sampling of groundwater consistent with approved plans
• Responding to system alarms in person and occasionally remotely
• Documentation of all work in field notes, forms and electronic records

What You Will Bring To The Team

• Strong foundation, experience and proficiency in operation and maintenance of remediation treatment systems and environmental field work.
• Mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting experience
• Experience with county and state regulatory agencies preferred.
• Proven professional judgement, including identifying, assessing, evaluating and solving problems.
• Written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to concisely convey complex issues.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, geology, environmental science or related field, preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+years of experience with solid technical knowledge and skills in operation, maintenance, and field tasks related to environmental remediation and restoration projects construction experience a plus.
• OSHA 40-Hr HAZWOPER

Salary Range: $34.00-$58.00 per hour based on experience
