Job summary

Congregation Shir Tikvah is seeking an enthusiastic educator to join the Nashira Project, our Sunday morning Jewish learning community on Portland’s Eastside.

We’re looking for someone who loves working with children and is excited to bring Jewish learning to life through stories, song, prayer, Hebrew, movement, and meaningful relationships. This is a 2-3 hour/week commitment with compensation of $36/hour.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching, working with children, or leading youth programs in school, preschool, daycare, camp, synagogue, or similar settings.
• Familiarity with Jewish holidays, rituals, traditions, and basic Hebrew.
• Comfort participating in or leading simple tefillah (or willingness to learn).

Responsibilities

• Teach and engage children through stories, song, prayer, Hebrew, and movement.
• Foster meaningful relationships and a positive learning environment.
• Be available for the September kick-off event and at least 18 of the 20 Nashira sessions plus Teacher Orientation in late August.

• Applicants must be available for the kick-off event (September date TBD) at least 18 of the 20 Nashira sessions, and Teacher Orientation in late August.

Time commitment: 2-3 hours/week (Sunday AM)

Compensation: $36/hour
