Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains, NJ is seeking dedicated and dynamic Synagogue Religious School Teachers to join our growing Religious School Program. We value passionate educators who mentor students, foster a positive learning environment, and manage classrooms effectively.

Hebrew language reading and pronunciation skills are preferred for Sunday positions, with basic Hebrew literacy for Mid‑week sessions.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ prior Religious School teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach Judaics and Hebrew revision to 3rd‑4th graders on Sunday sessions.
• Teach Hebrew and alef-bet review for 3rd‑4th and 4th graders on Sunday sessions.
• Lead and manage classroom activities with caring and inclusive approach.

We are hiring dedicated and dynamic Synagogue Religious School Teachers to join our amazing team, in our growing and thriving Religious School Program.

The ideal candidates are passionate about educating and mentoring students, fostering a positive learning environment, and are strong classroom managers. Hebrew language reading and pronunciation skills preferred for Sunday positions. Basic Hebrew literacy and familiarity with prayers required for Mid‑week positions.

Sunday Morning Positions

• 1-2 Judaics teachers for 1st Grade Early Session (8:45am – 10:30am) and Late Session (10:45am – 12:30pm)
• 1 Judaics and Hebrew review teacher for 3rd Grade Early Session (8:45am – 10:30am)
• 1 Judaics and Hebrew review teacher for 4th Grade Early Session (8:45am – 10:30am) and Late Session (10:45am – 12:30pm)

Wednesday and Thursday Positions

• 1 Hebrew teacher for 3rd-4th grades. Teaching alef-bet and decoding, and phonics.
• 2 Hebrew teachers for 5th-6th grades. Teaching prayer reading, and assessing skill level.

Skills Required

Knowledge of Jewish Customs, Jewish Calendar, and basic Hebrew Literacy.

Required Qualifications

2 years’ prior Religious School teaching experience.
