Job summary

Skyline Veterinary Specialists, a BluePearl Pet Hospital, seeks experienced Relief Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care unit. Schedule options include 7a–7p, 12p–12a, and 7p–7a. We offer competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

You will assist with anesthesia, triage emergencies, radiography, vitals monitoring, CPR, IV catheter placement, feeding tubes, and mentorship of staff in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in Emergency/ICU settings preferred.
• Proficiency with anesthesia, monitoring, and patient handling.
• Ability to triage emergencies and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.
• Monitor and interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian.
• Identify high-risk patients and initiate CPR.
• Administer medications and calculate medical dosing.
• Place IV catheters and perform phlebotomy.
• Manage feeding tubes and central lines.
• Mentor and train other staff.
• Provide compassionate client communication.

Skyline Veterinary Specialists, a BluePearl Pet Hospital, is hiring experienced RELIEF Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department .

Schedule: 7a - 7p | 12p - 12a | 7p - 7a

Pay: $20 - $30 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through our leveling system.

As a Relief Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
