Job summary

Skyline Veterinary Specialists, a BluePearl Pet Hospital, is seeking experienced Relief Veterinary Technicians for our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. Schedule options include 7a-7p, 12p-12a, and 7p-7a.

Pay ranges from $20 to $30 per hour, depending on experience and leveling within our system. The role involves anesthesia induction/monitoring, triage, radiography, vital sign monitoring, CPR, phlebotomy, IV catheter placement, feeding tube and central line management, plus mentoring

Qualifications

• Emergency/critical care experience preferred.
• Licensed RVT or eligible to practice in the state.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia and manage related equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals (temp, HR, RR, BP).
• Perform digital radiography with proper patient positioning.
• Assess vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Perform phlebotomy and place IV catheters.
• Place and manage feeding tubes and central lines as needed.
• Mentor and train other staff; address client concerns.

Skyline Veterinary Specialists, a BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced RELIEF Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Schedule: 7a - 7p | 12p - 12a | 7p - 7a

Pay: $20 - $30 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience and advancement through our leveling system.

As a Relief Emergency Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
