Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Relief Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay: $20.00 - $40.50 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and depends on experience, licensure, and advancement through our leveling system.

Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked during nights and weekends.

As a Relief Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:
  1. Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients, using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
  2. Triage emergency cases upon arrival, including obtaining vital signs such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
  3. Perform digital radiography with proper technique and patient positioning.
  4. Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
  5. Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting the veterinarian to changes and issues.
  6. Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
  7. Calculate medical math, including constant rate infusions, and administer medications via appropriate routes and durations.
  8. Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels proficiently.
  9. Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
  10. Mentor and train other team members with patience and empathy.
  11. Address client concerns with patience and empathy.
