BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking experienced Relief Veterinary Technicians to support our busy Emergency and Critical Care department in Summerville, SC. The role offers hourly pay from $25.00 to $40.50, depending on experience and advancement through our leveling system.

As a Relief Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will manage anesthesia, triage emergencies, and perform procedures such as phlebotomy, radiography, and catheter placement.

Qualifications

• RVT license or equivalent certification preferred.
• Experience in Emergency and Critical Care is desired.
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and prepare patients for surgery.
• Comfort with phlebotomy and IV access in small animals.

Responsabilités

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Triage emergencies and monitor vitals.
• Perform digital radiography with proper technique.
• Maintain knowledge of normal vital sign ranges and alert veterinarians as needed.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer medications.
• Place IV catheters and perform phlebotomy.
• Place feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train staff.
• Provide compassionate client communication.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Relief Veterinary Technicians to work in our busy Emergency and Critical Care department.

Pay: $25.00 - $40.50 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system

As a Relief Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
