Job summary

Priority Pet Urgent Care in Happy Valley, OR is seeking relief veterinary technicians and assistants to join a brand new state-of-the-art clinic opening in August 2026. The role supports triage, nursing care, anesthesia, and diagnostic imaging in a fast-paced setting.

The ideal candidate holds a licensed veterinary technician credential with 1+ year of experience and is prepared for evening hours Thu–Mon, with a strong commitment to animal welfare and client communication.

Qualifications

  • Certified Veterinary Technician with an active license; 1+ year professional experience.
  • Open to experienced veterinary assistants.
  • Punctuality and reliability with shifts.
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management.
  • Knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventive care, and hospital operations.
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture.
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards.

Responsibilities

  • Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases.
  • Administration of medications and effective communication of treatment plans with clients.
  • Surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.
  • Adhere to professional ethics and maintain safety in a fast-paced veterinary setting.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure high quality patient care.

Job Description

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Pet restraint, triage incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications
We’re Looking For:
  • A Certified Veterinary Technician with an active license required, 1+ year professional experience
    • We are also open to considering experienced veterinary assistants for this position
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
