Job summary

• Familiar with Inupiaq culture, environment and able to relate to the people and clients.
• Must have at least 3 years' experience in the practice of traditional medicine and health care practices.
• Must obtain BLS certification within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides traditional medicine and direct health care practices.
• Provides traditional medicine and direct health care to patients in the Maniilaq service area.
• Refers patients who require further observation and follow up to the Maniilaq Health Center and Community Health Practitioner in the out-lying communities.
• Provides education on nutritious traditional foods, healthy life style practices and preventative health care to patients they provide and care for.
• Records into patient records all direct health care given.
• Guides and works with Tribal Doctor Trainees to teach the traditional medicine and health care practices.
• Ensures another staff member is present when working on a patient of the opposite sex.
• Other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Preferably speaks both Inupiaq and the English language competently. Familiar with Inupiaq culture, environment and able to relate to the people and clients. Must have in-depth knowledge of all aspects of traditional medicine and health care practices. Must have at least 3 years' experience in the practice of traditional medicine and health care practices. Must obtain BLS certification within six months of hire. This position requires a self-motivated person with enthusiasm for promoting activity for Tribal Doctor Program.
