Job summary

International Paper in Middletown, OH is seeking a Relief Supervisor to oversee daily production of corrugated board, train staff, assign tasks, and ensure safety and quality. You will lead by example, communicate across shifts and departments, and drive performance.

The role requires at least two years of supervisory experience, prefers packaging industry background, and willingness to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts including weekends.

Qualifications

• Two years of supervisory and training experience preferred.
• Prior experience in the corrugated packaging industry preferred.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills required.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Must be willing to work all three shifts and some weekends as needed to cover vacations and absences.

Responsibilities

• Supervise employees in daily production of corrugated board, including training, planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluate performance; enforce safety and quality standards.
• Lead and motivate staff by setting a positive example, maintain a safe work environment and quality product.
• Effectively communicate operational information across all levels, including management, office staff, and customers.
• Promote and ensure compliance with safety, quality and other programs within the organization.
• Perform training on topics such as safety, machine setup, QMS, operation, and PIT; complete training documentation.
• Other duties as assigned

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s annual incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform

• Supervise employees in the daily production of corrugated board, to include training, planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating employee performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; promoting safety, quality production and teamwork; resolving conflicts.
• Lead and motivate employees by setting an example of superior behavior, attitude, and performance to work efficiently and effectively, while ensuring a safe work environment, and a quality product.
• Effectively communicate operational information in both oral and written format at all levels: crew members, other supervisors, plant management, office personnel and outside customers and vendors.
• Actively promote and ensure compliance with safety, quality and other programs and initiatives utilized within the organization.
• Perform individual, team, and small group training on specific subjects selected by the Site Manager or PIM. Topics include but are not limited to safety, machine set up, QMS, machine operation, and PIT operation. Complete related training documentation.
• Other Duties as assigned
