Job summary

City of Charlottesville seeks a Relief School Bus Transit Operator to provide safe, courteous transportation for public and school-related routes. Reports to a Transit Operations Supervisor and starts at $24.15 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED AND one year of experience performing customer service tasks.
• OR
• Three years of work experience performing customer service tasks.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above.

Responsibilities

• Operates a transit passenger bus or school bus over designated routes and schedules to ensure safe transportation.
• Pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment; report defects.
• Maintain trip records including fares, passenger behavior, mileage, and reporting.
• Assist passengers with boarding, including accessibility needs; announce routes and stops.
