Job description

River’s Edge Group Home is a therapeutic group home located in Thompson, CT, on the border of JRI’s Susan Wayne Center of Excellence. The program serves adolescent girls aged 13–20, who often present with behavioral, mental health, and cognitive challenges.

We are seeking Relief Residential Counselors to support the development and growth of young adults facing emotional challenges. Our residential counselors are passionate about learning effective skills, engaging creatively, and providing a safe environment for success. We pride ourselves on maintaining structured routines while ensuring safety and regulation through 24-hour supervision and direct care.

Due to the nature of our work, overtime may sometimes be required.

What You'll Do:

  1. Perform direct care responsibilities within the group home.
  2. Supervise students within the group home, maintaining safety and security as per agency policies.
  3. Lead by example, demonstrating professional behavior, and handle special projects assigned by the administrative team.

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • High School Diploma required; some college preferred.
  • Experience in a group home, residential program, or mental health facility is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Training in physical interventions and verbal de-escalation provided to ensure a safe therapeutic environment.
  • Background and driving record checks will be conducted.
