Job summary

Upstate Niagara Cooperative, Inc. is seeking a Production Shift Relief Supervisor to direct Production, Maintenance and Quality Control activities. The role focuses on producing safe, high-quality dairy products efficiently within established policies.

You will lead teams, coordinate daily production, and drive improvements across safety, quality and cost. Weekend and holiday coverage may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate people.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate the performance of direct reports; ability to think analytically.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve established department goals for production volume, quality, safety, and cost reduction.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to employees.
  • Coordinate daily production activities to meet business objectives.
  • Communicate non-compliances to Managers for corrective action.
  • Assign job responsibilities to meet production schedules and ensure proper equipment use.
  • Monitor employee morale and resolve issues within the department.
  • Maintain employee records (time sheets, absences, tardy records, overtime, safety).
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are accurate and up to date.
  • Oversee safety program and conduct accident investigations.
  • Manage performance, onboarding, training, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Monitor policy adherence and formulate improvements.
  • Instruct and train current and future employees as needed.
  • Coordinate with purchasing on inventory and variance control of packaging/processing supplies.
  • Lead continuous improvement to reduce safety losses and costs.

We currently have an opening for a Production Shift Relief Supervisor. Working within the limits of authority and within company policies and procedures, directs the activities of the department in areas of Production, Maintenance and Quality Control. The Production Supervisor is to produce products efficiently and safely within established policy and processes.

Must be available to work various shifts with possible coverage on weekends & Holidays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Achievement of established department goals of production volume, quality, safety, and cost reduction
  • Provides leadership and guidance to employees for the purpose of development and establishing a good working atmosphere.
  • Coordinate daily production activities in order to meet business objectives.
  • Communicate non compliances in a timely fashion to appropriate Managers for corrective action.
  • Assigns job responsibilities to employees, according to policies to meet planned production schedules insuring that the proper equipment repair and operating techniques are followed.
  • Monitors changes in employee morale and works to resolve problems within his/her department.
  • Maintains employee records such as time sheets, absences, tardy records, overtime, and safety as required for the department.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures for job functions are accurate and up to date.
  • Responsible for assigned safety program.
  • Conduct accident investigation as needed.
  • Responsible for production employee job performance, including safety, orientation, training and discipline. Assure compliance with employee relation's policies and programs.
  • Monitor and enforce all policies and formulations.
  • Instruct and train present and future employees as needed.
  • Coordinates with purchasing in monitoring inventory control and variance control of all packaging and processing supplies.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities to improve safety losses, performance results, processes and costs.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or Business discipline.
  • Prior experience in Dairy/Food manufacturing.

Pay: $70k-$80k/yr.*

  • The salary range listed for this position represents the good faith and reasonable minimum and maximum pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, training, knowledge, education, and overall qualifications. The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package. Other components of the total rewards package may include participation in group health and/or dental insurance, retirement plan, wellness program, paid time away from work, and paid holidays.
