Job summary

Mars is hiring for an on-site Packaging Line Operator to support line relief, shift continuity, and frontline leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will troubleshoot equipment, perform changeovers, and ensure GMP and safety standards are followed.

Ideal candidates demonstrate hands-on experience with high-speed packaging, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead across multiple workstations while adhering to SOPs and training requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed manufacturing or packaging machinery.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Line relief & shift continuity: cover break rotations and outages to prevent bottlenecks.
  • Packaging area leadership: provide hands-on assistance and direct floor priorities to meet daily targets.
  • Changeovers & Clean-Inspect-Lubricate: assist in mechanical changeovers and sanitization to minimize downtime.
  • Production records & digital systems: assist with batch records and audit run metrics in Production Summary.
  • Subject expertise & team capability: act as SME for equipment operation, training and on-the-job coaching.

What Are We Looking For?
  • Technical Background & Machinery Experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education required.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on operational experience with high‑speed manufacturing or packaging machinery.
  • Diagnostic & Mechanical Aptitude: Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills to quickly identify mechanical faults, sensor errors, and process deviations.
  • Operational Agility & Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead by example, prioritize under dynamic floor conditions, and seamlessly transition across diverse workstations.
  • Compliance & Standards Foundation: Strong working knowledge and personal commitment to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), OSHA/workplace safety standards, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Digital & Systems Competency: Functional literacy with production tracking tools, digital verification platforms (e.g., Weever Forms), and learning management systems (e.g., Nexus).
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs.) and frequent pushing/pulling (50-200 lbs.).
  • Frequent handling/gripping/bending/stooping.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights off a ladder or platform, climb stairs, leaning over equipment.
  • Ability to stand and / or work on your feet for extended periods
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to support production needs and to conduct multi-task work in a very fast‑paced work environment.
What Will Be your key Responsibilities?
Line Relief & Shift Continuity
  • Structured Operator Rotations: Step in seamlessly to cover scheduled break rotations across core stations to prevent bottlenecking and protect production targets.
  • Outage & Absence Coverage: Provide flexible frontline support during planned downtime, peak relief windows, or unexpected staffing gaps to sustain continuous manufacturing flow.
Packaging Area Leadership & Technical Support
  • Tactical Floor Leadership: Champion overall area performance by offering hands‑on assistance and directing floor priorities to achieve daily output targets.
  • First‑Line Issue Escalation: Serve as the primary point of contact to rapidly diagnose and resolve minor equipment stoppages, system faults, or process deviations.
  • Safety & Quality Standards: Uphold and reinforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and workplace safety across all assigned packaging cells.
Changeovers & Clean‑Inspect‑Lubricate (CIL)
  • Pre‑Planning & Alignment: Partner with Team Leads to stage materials, communicate schedules, and align the crew prior to line shutdowns.
  • Hands‑On Execution: Actively assist in mechanical changeover tasks and sanitization routines to minimize transition downtime between product runs.
  • Compliance & Sign-Offs: Perform required post-task inspections and complete digital audit sign-offs via Weever Forms.
Production Records & Digital Systems
  • Batch & Yield Reconciliation: Assist with tracking raw batch records and tallying completed finished goods against shift targets.
  • Work Order Auditing: Pull Work Orders (WOs) and audit run metrics directly through the Production Summary system.
Subject Expertise & Team Capability
  • Production Coordinator Back‑Up: Provide secondary leadership coverage to support administrative and operational shift management when required.
  • Subject Area Expert (SAE): Act as the technical SME for equipment operation, process optimization, and troubleshooting best practices.
  • On‑the‑Job Trainer (OJT): Drive team competency by pulling onboarding and standard training modules from Nexus and managing trainee qualification signoffs.
  • Autonomous Maintenance (AM): Drive ownership of Autonomous Maintenance initiatives, defect handling, and future pillar roll outs.
