Job summary

Mars in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Production Coordinator to support daily manufacturing operations by coordinating production activities, communicating priorities, and monitoring performance to meet safety, quality, and production goals.

The role partners with Production Leaders, maintenance, quality, planning, and warehouse to resolve issues, ensure 5S, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining an organized, safe work environment and effective shift-to-shift communication.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily production activities to support the production plan and established operating targets.
  • Communicate production priorities, schedule changes, equipment issues, staffing needs, and other important information to the appropriate teams.
  • Monitor production performance and identify potential delays, downtime, staffing gaps, material shortages, and other obstacles.
  • Support Production Leaders and operators in maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized work environment.
  • Assist with staffing coordination and ensure appropriate coverage for production areas.
  • Monitor attendance and communicate staffing concerns in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering when equipment issues or breakdowns affect production.
  • Partner with Quality and Food Safety to ensure products are manufactured according to established standards and procedures.
  • Follow up on production issues to ensure corrective actions are completed and communicated.
  • Review production data, downtime information, quality information, and other performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with changeovers, startup activities, shutdowns, and production transitions as needed.
  • Ensure required production documentation, checks, and records are completed accurately and on time.
  • Support inventory and material availability by communicating shortages or potential supply issues.
  • Help maintain 5S standards and ensure production areas remain clean, organized, and audit-ready.
  • Reinforce company safety expectations and immediately escalated unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve safety, quality, productivity, waste, and cost.
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and development of production associates when requested.
  • Provide effective shift-to-shift communication to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Participate in investigations and problem-solving activities related to safety, quality, production, downtime, and process performance.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Job Description:
