Job summary

VCA Animal Emergency Critical Care in Leesburg, VA seeks a Locum Relief CVT to cover shifts as needed, with no long-term commitment. You’ll join an ER team, handling exams, histories, vaccines, transfusions, anesthesia, and diagnostics with a strong focus on accuracy and documentation.

Flexible/as-needed scheduling, shift differentials, and a compensation package that rewards experience and licensure. Great for variety and building life‑friendly work hours while delivering high‑quality pet care.

Qualifications

• Licensed CVT with current credentials and the ability to work in an ER/critical care setting.
• Adaptable, positive, and able to read a room quickly as the new face on a shift.
• Ability to manage full patient care from history through outcomes with documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical exams, histories, and vitals for new or existing patients.
• Administer vaccines, meds, and treatments with accurate dosing and documentation.
• Manage CRIs, transfusions, and treatments with proper dosing and records.
• Place IV catheters, venipuncture, and provide fluid therapy as needed.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia, keeping patients stable during procedures.
• Operate radiography and in-house diagnostic equipment.
• Counsel clients on preventive care, meds, and at‑home instructions.
• Maintain precise records and clear communication on arrival of new patients.

Locum Relief CVT: Work When You Want, Where You're Needed

VCA Animal Emergency Critical Care in Leesburg, VA is looking for a Locum Relief CVT to jump in when and where the team needs an extra set of skilled hands. No long‑term commitment required, just bring your experience and your A‑game. If you like variety, hate being bored, and want the freedom to build a schedule around your life instead of the other way around, this is your kind of gig. You'll get the full ER/critical care experience. The fast pace, the real cases, the good kind of chaos without being locked into a fixed schedule..

The pay: $35-37 Based on experience and licensure, competitive with our full‑time CVT compensation. Currently offering shift differential and shift bonus if called in, all in addition to hourly pay.

The schedule: Flexible / as‑needed. Pick up shifts that work for you, including swing and overnight coverage.

What you'll actually be doing:

• Jumping into physical exams, patient histories, and vitals like you've been here all along
• Administering vaccines, meds, and treatments with accurate dosing and documentation
• Medications, CRIs, transfusions, and treatments, dosed right and documented right
• IV catheters, venipuncture, fluid therapy, high flow oxygen
• Anesthesia inducing, monitoring, and keeping patients stable through procedures
• Running radiography and in‑house diagnostics
• Talking clients through preventive care, meds, and at‑home instructions
• Keeping records tight and communication clear, even when you're new to the room
• Handling everything from routine visits to full‑blown emergencies without missing a beat
