Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Group The PC in Grand Prairie, TX is seeking a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant to support the team from day one, triaging patients, comforting pet parents, and assisting with treatments and diagnostics.

You’ll work with credentialed technicians and veterinarians, gain hands-on experience in anesthesia, CPR, and emergency care, and access flexible schedules, mentorship, and career growth within VEG.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is a plus.
• 1+ years in a veterinary assistant role (emergency or specialty experience a bonus).
• Basic computer skills and EMR knowledge.
• Excellent communicator with pets’ parents and team.

Responsibilities

• Be the first warm welcome and triage incoming patients.
• Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics.
• Work alongside technicians and veterinarians on anesthesia and sedation.
• Set up IV fluids, medications, and monitor care.
• Support both outpatient and inpatient care and participate in rounds.
