Job summary

Lunar Energy, Inc. is seeking Hardware Test Engineers in Mountain View, CA to design and automate test stands, collect performance data, and analyze results to drive engineering decisions across electrical, mechanical, thermal, and software domains.

On a typical day you’ll validate power converters and battery systems end-to-end, develop field-representative test specs, build custom stands, and write Python tests to automate data collection and analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical engineering, or engineering physics is required.
• Strong curiosity and ownership in a dynamic environment.
• Fundamentals in electronics, heat transfer, and mechanics.
• Experience with electrical test equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Python or similar programming with test automation is a plus.
• CAD or basic mechanical design is a plus.
• Experience testing power electronics or battery systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Validate Lunar’s power converters and battery systems end-to-end: test planning, stand development, execution, data analysis, failure analysis, and reporting.
• Develop test specifications from field conditions and translate data into stress profiles for physics-based failures.
• Create detailed functional test plans for complex products and balance thoroughness with scalability.
• Design and develop custom test stands for electrical, thermal, and mechanical testing.
• Define test stand architecture and work with technicians to build stands.
• Write Python test software to automate testing and process large datasets.
• Improve test infrastructure to gain more data with less effort.
• Assist root-cause analysis for test and field failures.
