Job summary

Mitsubishi Chemical Methacrylates is seeking a mechanically skilled technician to assure equipment reliability and perform preventative maintenance at our Memphis facility. You will diagnose issues, repair equipment, and drive improvements to uptime while adhering to safety policies and EMS requirements.

Responsibilities include maintaining pumps and seals, reading drawings, using basic shop tools, and coordinating with supervision on ongoing maintenance projects to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience maintaining a chemical plant.
• Knowledge of OSHA safety rules.
• Obtain an acceptable score on the Work Keys skill tests.
• Able to read/interpret mechanical drawings (single line, schematic, P&I).
• Use basic hand tools and operate basic shop tools.
• Measure, sketch, fabricate, and install threaded pipe.
• Knowledge of safe access to work including scaffolding requirements.
• Align a pump with a motor using a dial indicator.
• Able to install a cartridge-type pump seal.
• Able to torque tighten various threaded fasteners.
• Properly use chokers to rig equipment.
• Knowledge of basics of structural steel welding.
• Use computer systems to research technical documents.
• Able to thread, fit, and leak test piping and devices.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment using safe work procedures.
• Assist in diagnosis of problems to a root cause and facilitate repairs.
• Provide expertise to develop reliability improvements and support approved projects.
• Aim to reduce downtime for mechanical activities.
• Install, repair, and maintain pumps and associated equipment.
• Install, service, and repair mechanical seal types.
• Utilize the work order system to track daily duties.
• Complete other mechanical responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Support EMS requirements.
